No boutiques, no nightlife: Triei has its piazza bar, the church of San Cosma, narrow streets where shutters stay open. It is the rare value of Sardinian normality — the one attentive travellers seek and almost never find.
Osono, the giants next door
Minutes from the village, in a wood of holm oaks and wild olives, the Osono giants' tomb is one of Ogliastra's best-preserved Nuragic monuments: the granite exedra, the funerary corridor, absolute silence. You will often be the only visitors.
The mountain and the festivals
Above the village, the Mount Olinie woods stay cool even in August, with trails among ancient yews and long tables at country festivals. If you land on a sagra day, stay: Triei's warmth is not a service, it is a way of being.
