Separated from Mariolu by a single rock spur, Cala dei Gabbiani offers the same impossible water with half the people: the choice of those who know the Baunei coast.
The discreet sister
Same white and pink pebbles, same cliffs, same aquarium seabed: Gabbiani only lacks the fame — its greatest asset. Boat crews often propose it when Mariolu hits its daily cap: accept without hesitation.
What to expect
The beach is longer and narrower than Mariolu, with shady corners under the wall in the morning. Snorkelling towards the spur dividing it from Mariolu is best: curious groupers, schools of bream, and the blue dropping vertically offshore.
Our tips
- Ask the cooperative for the Gabbiani landing when booking.
- Bring a light umbrella: natural shade disappears after 11am.
- Combine it with the Piscine di Venere, two boat minutes away.
