The fortress on Ogliastra's roof
Serbissi commands everything: the heels of Ulassai and Osini, the Pardu gorges, the sea in the distance. You can climb the central keep to its top, and the inner tholos is among the island's best preserved. Below, a natural cave served as a cool larder — a Bronze Age refrigerator.
Getting there
From old Osini you climb the San Giorgio gorge — opened, legend says, by the saint himself — and follow the plateau to the site. The road is as scenic as the destination: stop at the viewpoints.

Ulassai, with the Su Marmuri caves and the Stazione dell'Arte, is twenty minutes away: together they make Ogliastra's finest mountain day, perfect when the wind makes the sea less inviting.
