Three and a half thousand years in a holm-oak wood: the Osono giants' tomb is Triei's most precious monument and one of Ogliastra's best preserved. And it is, quite literally, I Mandorli's neighbour.
The monument
Giants' tombs were the collective burials of Nuragic communities: at Osono the semicircular granite exedra — the "bull's chest" that hosted the rites — is almost intact, and the funerary corridor runs eleven metres between perfectly fitted orthostats. In the woods, the atmosphere is suspended.
Visiting
A short walk from the Osono road, among wild olives and dry-stone walls. No ticket office, no crowds: just you, the granite and the cicadas. Go early morning or at golden hour, when raking light ignites the stone.

Complete the visit with the Bau Nuraxi nuraghe and the village of Triei; or continue to the Golgo for a full day of archaeology and nature. In the evening, history pairs well with a glass of Cannonau.
